The deep censer with rounded sides and everted rim, standing on three moulded monster-mask legs, the exterior lightly moulded with angular spirals and pairs of dragon heads above each foot, the shoulder with spiralling petals below wave-pattern, and a band of key pattern on the rim, one side incised and blackened with a long inscription, including the date Qianlong bingyin

The inscription on this censer indicates that the censer was offered to the altar table of the gods Wenchang (official advancement) and Guangong, by the brothers of the He, Ma and Wang families in the ninth month of Qianlong bingwu year, corresponding to 1786.
