Ella Sykes spent three years travelling with the British Frontier Commission, and her brother Percy, who was to open the first British Consulate in Kerman. "As I believe that I am the first European woman who has visited Kerman and Persian Baluchistan, my experiences may perhaps interest other women who feel the 'Wanderlust' but are unable to gratify their longing for adventure" (preface).
