20th century, signed Ichiyushi Morihira (1899-1971) and inscribed Natsuo wo utsusu (After a design by Natsuo [Kano Natsuo (1828-1898)])
The plate slightly lobed and hammered on the surface to resemble a stone finish and decorated with a design of peonies in the rain on the front and a snail on leaves on the reverse, all inlaid in gold and silver and carved in high relief
