With their finely-chased nozzles and pearled garlands, these delicate jewel-like candlesticks are extremely rare examples of Louis XVI bronzes d'ameublements and relate to the oeuvre of the celebrated ciseleur-doreur François Rémond (maître in 1774), whose precision in chasing relates to that found on the present candlesticks. They are virtually identical to those illustrated in G. Henriot, Bronzes et Bois Sculptés des Collections Privées, Paris, n.d., pl. 15.
