A fine Charles II walnut small longcase clock

The case with cross-banded plinth on bun feet, convex moulding beneath the rectangular trunk door with later escutcheon, concave throat moulding to the foward sliding (previously rising) hood with twist columns supporting a foliate cut walnut sound fret, the 9 7/8 in. square brass dial signed John Ebsworth Londini Fecit beneath the silvered chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, matted centre with small seconds ring, calendar aperture and rosette engraved centre, the movement with five latched ring-turned pillars, anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on a bell above the plates
