A Meissen oval sugar-box and cover
CIRCA 1728, BLUE ENAMEL CROSSED SWORDS MARK TO BOX, TRACES OF GILDER'S NUMERAL 75. TO BOX AND COVER
The finial formed as a richly gilt lion, recumbent, painted in the manner of J.G. Höroldt, the box with a continuous frieze of Oriental figures among trees and flowering shrubs between gilt lines, the cover with similar lesser vignettes of figures flanking the finial within a Böttger-lustre border gilt with interlocking scrolls (cover with extensive wear to gilding on finial, border and rim, box with slight wear to double line border, further very slight wear)
