A GEORGE II SILVER-GILT CREAM-JUG
UNMARKED, SUPPLIED BY GEORGE WICKES, LONDON, 1731
Baluster form on shaped circular foot, profusely cast and chased with spiral flutes, waves and foliage, a demi-female figure below the spout, the base formed as a sea-monster with shell back and curled tail on a scrolling ground, the reeded scroll handle with putto and shell finial, the base engraved with scratchweight '10=8'

Supplied by George Wickes to The Rt. Hon. William Conolly (d.1754) and then by descent to his second daughter Anne (d.1806), who married George Byng, M.P. (1735-1789) and then by descent to their son
