Jacques-Laurent Cosson, maître in 1765.
This highly unusual double commode appears to be a virtually unique model in 18th Century furniture design, and certainly so within the oeuvre of Cosson. Established on the rue de Charonne at the sign of the 'Grand Monarque', he developed his reputation and became the deputy of his corporation in 1784. In 1786 - 1787, he furnished more than 3000 livres worth of furniture for the comte de Montmorin for his new hôtel on the rue Plumet built by Brogniart.
