FIREWORKS -- Traité de l'Artifice et de Peinture, [late 18th-century]. 4° (205 x 150mm), French manuscript on paper, 93pp. and 6ff. including 3 plates of drawings in pencil and wash, written in brown ink, each page within ruled border (occasional slight offsetting, marginal browning to free endpapers). 18th-century calf gilt, spine tooled in compartments with red morocco lettering piece (some light rubbing to extremities). A charming French manuscript treatise on fireworks, detailing their different types, chemical composition and use, with skilfully drawn illustrations. In three parts, the manuscript is also devoted to fountains and to painting.
