Tutor to Louis XV, Fleury became one of the King's closest advisors. In addition to his official functions, he was also a member of the Académie française and strong proponent of arts and sciences, and he is credited with enlarging the Royal Library. Possibly bound by Derome; the bird tool appears to be identical to Derome's, used on Esmerian II, lot 121. Barbier IV, 778.
