The gilt chain fusee movement with oversize five-armed balance, decorative bridge cock with ruby endstone, stopwork to the winding mechanism, recessed regulator into the top plate, with scale to the edge of the movement, Pouzzait escapement beating approximate seconds, the white enamel dial with an eccentric Arabic chapter ring, outer seconds ring with Arabic quarter-minute marks, eccentric calendar ring with blued steel hand, sweep centre seconds beating approximate seconds, in (later) gilt case

The Pouzzait escapement was invented by Jean Moise Pouzzait in 1788. He was head of the first school of horology in Geneva. The extra large balance swings one second each way and the escape wheel usually carries a sweep centre seconds hand. The slow action of the balance and excessive friction of the escapement caused it to be superceded by the lever escapement.
