Modelled by Valentin Sonnenschein, with a barefoot farm boy bent down on all fours to observe four small chicks on a path, his black hat and sickle beside him, a sheaf of wheat over his right arm, a barefoot farm girl standing next to him, preparing to scoop up the chicks in her skirt, stooping slightly and lifting the hem of her white skirt, a large rock and stook of wheat behind her, on a shaped circular mound base (slight chipping to edge of base, some dating from time of manufacture, hat with slight flaking to enamel, areas of minute wear to enamels)

This group is derived from the engraving L'Eté of circa 1745 by N. Larmessin after Lancret. An example, then in the author's collection, is illustrated by S. Ducret, Die Zürcher Porzellanmanufaktur (Zürich, 1958), Vol. II, p. 156, pl. 246, opposite Larmessin's engraving on p. 157.
