The so-called churfürstliches Hofservice was most probably decorated by Joseph Zächenberger (1732-1802), and is generally regarded as Nymphenburg's finest achievement in terms of tablewares. For an extensive discussion of the service, see Alfred Ziffer, Nymphenburger Porzellan, Sammlung Bäuml (Stuttgart, 1997), pp. 133-139, where the catalogue cites numerous other examples and illustrates ten other pieces.
