The case with later brass handle to bell top, pierced sound fret roundels (replaced frets) to the sides above glazed panels, the later brass dial with foliate scroll spandrels to chapter ring, the matted centre with date aperture and signed on a recessed silvered plaque Chas. Sims/London, later blued steel hands, the arch applied with a later plaque engraved with an eagle, the eight day five pillar movement with twin wire fusees and knife-edge suspended verge escapement, strike on bell, lacking trip repeat, with plain back plate; circa 1770 and later -- 18½in.
