A George III mahogany longcase clock, circa 1765
The breakarch hood with outset front-fluted pillars and glazed side panels, with brass-capped reeded three-quarter pilasters flanking the breakarch trunk door with moulded frame, on panelled and stepped plinth (with further later base), the 12in. wide brass dial with female mask and foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers, matted centre engraved with birds and basket around date aperture with hatch-engraved border, the subsidiary seconds ring also with engraved centre, a silvered plaque in the arch signed Hen. Barker/MALLING, the eight day movement with five pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 80¾in. (205cm.) high
