Louise Marie-Thérèse, called Mademoiselle, eldest surviving daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Berry and elder sister of the Comte de Chambord (see following lot), was married in 1845 at Frohsdorf Castle to Charles III Duke of Parma. After the assassination of her husband at Parma in 1854, she assured the Regency of their eldest son Robert I, born in 1848, until the annexation of Parma to the Kingdom of Sardinia in 1859.
