The present miniature is copied after an oil portrait by Georg Desmarées, sold Christie's, New York, 21 May 1992, lot 166 (part) and again Christie's, New York, 19 May 1993, lot 153 (C. Hernmarck, Georg Desmarées, Uppsala, 1933, no. 135), which is a part copy after the famous double portrait by Desmarées depicting the Elector at breakfast together with his theatre director (and half-brother) Count Seeau, signed and dated 1755 (C. Hernmarck, op. cit., no. 134).
