by Jean-François Garand (fl. 1748-1778), marked, Paris, 1766/1767, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prevost 1762-1768
Rectangular blue lacquer étui-à-tablettes, both sides of the cover applied with gold inscription Souvenir on a matted gold scroll, olive branches below, both sides of the base set with glazed oval medallions with ribbon-tie surmounts, containing a pierced gold plaque chased with a bouquet of roses, and on the reverse scrolling foliate monogram 'CR', both on a blue silk ground, the pierced gold mounts chased with scrolls, inside four-leaved tablets (pencil missing)
