Oval box, the cover, four side panels and base engine-turned with horizontal wavy reeding creating a moiré pattern, within fluted borders, the sides divided by four pilasters hung with laurel festoons, the matted gold rims chased with laurel tied with a ribbon, and with scrolls, interspersed with small swirling rosettes, the inside of the lid later engraved Dem treuen Freund zum Andenken
