A pair of dark red lacquer globular vases and covers, six character chased mark written in Manchu dated to the 8th year of Qianlong, corresponding to 1743, and of the Period
finely carved with gentlemen and boys in fenced, rocky gardens of pavilions and visible to the interiors, overlooking mountainous river landscapes strewn with pine, all beneath broad bands of bats amongst cloud scrolls to the shoulders, the covers with mythical beasts, fish and Buddhist emblems amongst waves beneath floriform medallions reserved with multitudes of flower sprays, metal bases and finials, metal lined necks and covers -- 10¾in. (27.2cms) high.
