Tasting note: 1998 is of course a sumptuous vintage on Bordeaux's Right Bank, Merlots having reached impressive maturity, after several days baking heat during August. Pomerol was favoured, receiving less rainfall than the Médoc, and the best properties were picked before the October rains. Tasting this wine from barrel, I scored it 19.5 20. A.H.
