A good 19th-Century oxidised and lacquered-brass transit theodolite,
of small size, signed Robinson 38 Devonshire St Portland Plce London, the 3¾-inch long telescope with draw-tube adjustment to the objective, mounted on a vertical circle with silvered scale and twin vernier arms and magnifiers, a bubble level mounted on the other side, raised on a turned column from the 3½-inch horizontal circle with three vernier arms, silvered scale, fine-screw adjustment and clamp, raised on three splayed screw feet on a mahogany base-plate with rotating brass locking plate, with secondary telescope, smoked eyepiece and prismatic eyepiece, in a slightly pyramidal mahogany case with brass carrying handle -- 24.6cm. (9 5/8in.) high
