NORTH EAST IRAN, 12TH CENTURY
Of cylindrical form with separate cover with central ogival dome with ball finial, the sides engraved with a central band of interlaced scrolling silver vine with copper-inlaid leaves divided by the three applied hinged loop handles, a band of kufic benedictory inscription above and naskh below divided by roundels, the cover with a band of fine naskh around the domed centre with leaves and rosettes, a band of engraved vine around the internal aperture, the underside replaced, silver inlay partially missing and partially replaced, copper inlay original, surface slightly pitted

al-'izz wa al-iqbal wa al-dawla wa al-sa'ada wa al-salama wa al-sahibihi (glory, properity, wealth, peace, happiness and to the owner)
The inscriptions around the sides are not so clearly written and inlaid. They contain similar benedictory phrases.
