A fine late 19th-century astatic electro dynamometer, the vulcanite base with maker's label engraved SIEMENS & HALSKE BERLIN No. 29272, the cover with indicating pointer and engraved glass dial, the two coils wound in green silk, enclosed within a glass cylinder, a support with centrigrade thermometer reading 0°-40°, on three adjustable screw feet, with maker's card dated 4 June 1898, in original ebonised oak carrying case - 13¾in. (35cm.) high
