The table is conceived int he manner of a French guéridon and has a tripod claw which corresponds to a pattern by A. Hepplewhite & Co. in The Cabinet Maker's London Book or Prices, 1793, pl. 29. A table of almost identical form, but with a smaller circular inset of black and gold Japanese lacquer in the top, is at Buckingham Palace and is illustrated in R. Fastnedge, Sheraton Furniture, 1962, pl. 35.
