This wine-cooler, embellished in the Grecian or Pompeian manner with reeded columnettes, is very similar to one supplied by Gillows to John Lloyd Wynne of Coed Coch, Denbighshire in 1807 and sold by a descendant of his, Christie's, London, 18 April 1996, lot 231.
A similar oval wine-cooler with a fluted cover, was formerly in the collection of the Earls of Stradbroke, Henham Hall, Suffolk. Interestingly Henham Hall was designed by James Wyatt in the 1790s and the Wyatt family were closely associated with the Gillow family.
