Given by the sitter to Colonel Grey in 1847 after a two month tour in England, together with a presentation snuff-box that the Colonel refused to accept.

Grand Duke Constantine Nikloaevich of Russia, second son of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia and younger brother of Emperor Alexander II, was a General Admiral of the Russian Navy. In 1848, he married Alexandra Yossifovna, daughter of Duke Joseph of Saxe-Altenburg and had issue.
