The arms are those of Rous, for John Edward Cornwallis Rous, second Earl of Stradbroke, (1794-1886), served in the Coldstream Guards, 1812-17, in The Peninsular War and was awarded the medal with five clasps. He served in the Netherlands in 1815 and was Lord Lieutenant and Vice-Admiral of Suffolk 1842-86. He married in 1857, Augusta, widow of Colonel H F Bonham of the 10th Hussars and second daughter of Rev. Sir Christopher John Musgrave, ninth baronet of Edenhall. The Earl died in 1886
