An alpine waterfall

A pair of views by Châtelet of the Reinbach Falls, also in grey wash heightened with white on blue paper, were sold in these Rooms, 28 January 2000, lot 76, while a simlar view of the Falls at Schaffhausen was sold at Christie's, Monaco, 20 June, lot 107. These drawings, together with this and the following lot, may have been made in connection with the prints after Châtelet made for the Tableaux de la Suisse published by Laborde and Zurlauben in 1781-6.
