The arms are those of Winn accolée with Winn for Sir George Winn 1st Bt. (1725-1798) and his first wife Anne (d.1774), sixth daughter of Sir Rowland Winn 4th Bt., of Nostell Priory, co. York. Sir George succeeded to two estates during his lifetime; firstly that of his cousin Mark Winn of Little Warley, co Essex, in 1763 and secondly that of his kinsman Charles Allanson of Bramham Biggin, co. York in 1775. He was created a baronet in 1776 as recognition for his service to the Court of the Exchequer in Scotland. In 1777 he took the surname of Allanson and in 1797 was raised to the rank of Baron in the Irish peerage as Lord Headley, Baron Allanson and Winn of Aghadoe.
