'I trust every attention will be given to the machinations of the French Revolutionists and to the Dissenters who may easily join for mischief though personally adverse to each other, and as Parliament has been very liberal to both parties that no farther alterations will be allowed'.

Written before the abolition later the same month of the French monarchy. The first year of the French Republic began on September 23rd. The King also confirms his favourable response to an application from Lord Westmorland (John Fane, 10th Earl of Westmorland, Lord Lieutenant in Ireland).

George III visited Weymouth regularly from 1789, enjoying the sea-bathing, and owned several houses there.
