The talented Pascal Marchand was wine-maker here for the 1990 and 1996 vintages, being then ably succeeded by Benjamin Leroux for the great 1999. These are the Domaine's 3 best vintages of the 1990s - deep-coloured, richly structured wines, with magnificent fruit intensity. The 1990 is still a bit of a monster, being years away from full maturity and softness. The 1996 has begun to open up, and with its fresh acidity makes vivacious drinking (worth decanting 2-3 hours). The 1999 has perfect harmony, being rich, full, concentrated and powerful. AH
