Of typical form with rectangular section tubular pencase with rounded ends, the large swelling inkwell with raised bands above and below, the main body of each left plain silver, the gilded ends and edges engraved with floral designs, the oval cover of the inkwell with raised hinges and inset red stone, both parts stamped with the tughra of Mahmud I, the top of the pencase also stamped with the maker's mark of Mehmet within a shaped cartouche, very slightly rubbed, generally good condition
