The engraved crests on the kettle and stand are possibly of the Rotterdam Van Schoonhoven family: a stork with in its beak an elver. Members of this family held important positions in the city council of Rotterdam. If the crest is Van Schoonhoven indeed, the kettle and stand may possibly have been acquired on the occasion of the wedding of mr. Pieter van Schoonhoven (1741-1783) and Constantia Locquet (1745-1767) on 26 March 1764. Mr. Pieter van Schoonhoven was member of the Hooge Vierschaar (court of justice) of Schieland.
