A George III oak longcase clock, last quarter 18th century
The pagoda hood centred by a later mahogany panel and with later brass ball and spire finials, with giltwood capped outset turned columns, breakarch trunk door, the plain plinth raised on a simple skirting with bracket feet, the 12in. wide cut-away brass dial with foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, its silvered centre engraved with folaite scrolls, with hatch-engraved border to the subsidiary second ring and brass band around the square date aperture, pierced steel hands now black painted, the arch with painted rolling moon within a silvered band giving its age, two steel indication hands, the arch above with silvered signature plaque signed WILLIAM PRIDGIN HULL, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; case possibly associated to movement and dial -- 93¼in. (237cm.) high
