Penelope, Lady Daniell, was the wife of Sir William Dukinfield Daniell and daughter of Henry Vernon of Hilton, Staffordshire. These pictures were given to John Daniell by Lady Daresbury in March 1933, having purchased it at the sale of Marbury Hall, Northwich, Cheshire, the seat of Lord Barrymore, where it hung in the Oak Gallery.
