A Barbadian mahogany sideboard, early 19th century
with some later replacements, the galleried top with fret carved ledge back containing two drawers in the frieze, with D-shaped cellarette drawer fitted with compartments with three decanter bottles with stoppers, on curved x-framed reeded supports joined by turned stretchers -- 51in. (129.5cm) high, 48¼in. (122.5cm.) wide, 24½in. (62cm.) deep

The unusual and distinctive form of this sideboard is typical of the 'cellaret' in Barbados. A similar sideboard is illustrated in 'Carribean Style' by Jan Morris from Villa Nova Great House Barbados built by Edmund Haynes in 1834, former home of Sir Anthony Eden.
