Enamelled in blue, the details picked out in grayish black, with a frisky Pekingese, and four panels showing a parrot, a cockatoo, a pair of doves and a crane, the rim with a diaper trellis pattern in tones of peach and sepia between blue line borders

The very Western animals in this decoration and the distinctive trellis pattern are highly reminiscent of Cornelis Pronk's designs for the VOC and, if nothing else, certainly reflect the prevailing taste of the time. Both the dog and the parrot are found as motifs on Meissen porcelain of this period
