Circa 1721-25, imitation crossed swords and star mark to one, the coloured decoration later
Painted in underglaze blue and enriched with coloured enamels and gilding, both sides of each vase with two Orientals seated at a table, drinking and at discussion, in exotic landscapes with trees, rocky outcrops and pavilions between borders of concentric blue and gilt circles, the short straight necks and domed feet each with two exotic landscape vignettes

A blue and white vase of the same form is illustrated by Ingelore Menzhausen, Early Meissen Porcelain in Dresden (London, 1990), pl. 40, and the seated figure is almost identical to the right-hand figure on the present lot. The same figure appears in slightly different form, holding flowers instead of a beaker, on a blue and white double-gourd vase sold by Christie's Geneva on 7 June 1968, lot 32.
