In the Empire style, each painted in black and enriched in gold after engraving of Sicilian landscapes, titled on the reverse a 'VUE DU TEMPLE DE JUNON À AGRIGENTE.' or a 'VUE DES ENVIRONS DE GIRGENTI.' reserved on the sepia ground, within a broad gilt band, the border similarly decorated with a ripe husk vine

Based on comparison, it is likely that the print source for these topographical views can be traced to engravings found in Voyages pittoresque de Naples et de Sicile by L'Abbi de Saint Non and Vues d'Italie by Charles Bourgeois, copies of which are to be found at Sèvres. See anon. sale, Christie's, New York, 21 May 1997, lots 101-112 for plates from Le Service de l'Archichancelier also based on these engravings.
