carved laying down with its legs folded beneath itself, the c-scroll horns and features are naturalistically defined, incised signature to base -- 3 1/8in. (7.9cm.) long; and another very similar ivory netsuke of a recumbent buffalo laying beside its young, finely defined hairwork, incised signature to base -- 2¼in. (5.7cm.) long, (rubbing).
