This pair of girandoles relate to a pair, Victorian or Edwardian in date which relate to a design in the Director (1762), pl. CLXXVIII. Both the original drawing and one of the copies are illustrated in C. Gilbert, The Life and Work of Thomas Chippendale, vol. II, London, 1978, p. 181, figs. 325 & 326.
