Sold with a related newspaper cutting and one or two photographs, including a fine landscape image of Hulme Grammar School C.C.F., circa 1950, with the Major centre stage.

Major Robert Newman Heales was senior English teacher at Hulme Grammar School, Oldham from 1949 until his retirement in 1971, having originally taught at Hull Grammar School 'after his distinguished war career came to an end'. He also commanded the School's Combined Cadet Force for many years and was awarded the Cadet Forces Long Service Medal in 1961. The Major, who 'was a patient, forthright man - you knew where you were with him', died in August 1978.
