Struck following the Treaty of Ryswick, at which Louis XIV deserted the Jacobite cause, legitamising William and Mary's succession in England. The ship symbolises that the cause has suffered a set back but not all has been lost, it further serves to assert the legitimacy of James's son, the Old Pretender.
