A Japanese iron tobacco pouch
17th/18th Century
of rectangular form, the hinged flap opening to reveal a coiled gilt decorated dragon -- 3 5/8in. (9.3cm.) long, with attached ivory netsuke of Hotei leaning out of a large tied sack and an ivory carved ojime bead; and a stained ivory netsuke of a warrior brandishing a large sword, signed -- 1½in. (4cm.) high, (the tobacco pouch with light rust, the ivory with age cracks).
