A Japanese gilt-brass and hardwood striking table clock with double calendar (MAKURA-DOKEI)

The brass case with four ringed baluster columns, the front with a florally engraved and pierced mask on a blued steel panel, the revolving brass dial with adjustable silvered chapters, pierced and blued steel stationary hand, with twin date apertures below, the movement with four baluster pillars, chain fusee for the going train with plain brass balance, the strike train with going barrel and countwheel planted on the florally engraved backplate with elaborate blued steel set-up to the barrel clicks, the strike on a flattened bell to the top and formerly with smaller bell to the rear, mounted within a hardwood case with gilt-brass handle to the stepped top and key drawer to the base, etched and plain glass side panels and sliding front and rear panels
