A Japanese Shibayama silver mounted ivory vase with ho-o handles, liner and pierced silver cover with bird finial, the side of the vase inlaid with a cockerel perched on the branch of a blossoming tree, the reverse with butterflies in flight above chrysanthemums attached to canes, the silver mounts inlaid in coloured enamels with sprays of stylised flowers and leaves (wing of one ho-o broken, some inlay missing) -- 8¾in. high, signed on a raised rectangular panel.
