H.M.S. Vanity, 1,090 tons, was one of the "V" class destroyers ordered during the Great War as a counter to a new German type then being introduced. Vanity, built by Beardmore's at Dalmuir, on the Clyde, and launched in May 1918, survived to serve throughout the Second World War during which she was converted into an escort vessel in July 1940. Sold out of the service in 1947, she was broken up the following year.
