Although lacking the frontispiece, the second work has the interest of being the second chess book printed in America, and suggesting that the citizens of a free republic should adapt the names of the pieces as follows: King to Governor, Queen to General, Rook to Colonel, Bishop to Major, Knight to Captain, and Pawn to Pioneer.
