A mid-19th century bronze circular inkstand, surmounted by a group of the seated, pensive St George, with sword and shield, a hound at his side, on a naturalistic base, the underside inscribed MESSENGER & SONS, BIRMINGHAM, PUBLISHED MAY. 1. 1851, the stepped base with lobed ornament -- 10in. (25½cms.) high.
